LAS VEGAS -- On Friday morning, Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey fielded questions from reporters, spending 30 minutes answering inquiries on just about everything under the sun.
It was just one game — a summer league exhibition at that — but VJ Edgecombe provided a glimpse of what could make him a solid addition to the 76ers. It’s easy to become leery of performances from contests that aren’t remotely close to actual NBA competition.
Walter Clayton Jr. starred in Utah's third win at the Salt Lake Summer League. The national champion at Florida led the Jazz with 20 points to take down Nikola Topic and the Thunder. Kyle Filipowski produced an 18-point, 16-rebound double-double to complement Clayton's scoring outburst. Ajay Mitchell led the Thunder with 19 points.
Sixers two-way signing Dominick Barlow asked the team if he could play in Las Vegas Summer League. He got his wish, but the team struggled overall.
The California Classic featured the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors while the Salt Lake City League featured the Memphis Grizzlies, Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz.
