Texas special session called to address flood warning failures and emergency response after Hill Country flooding caused more than 100 deaths.
The governor said Tuesday that the state had “assets, resources and personnel” in place before the July 4 floods. On Wednesday evening, the death toll rose to 120.
At least 120 people have been killed and 173 are still missing as Texas officials deflect questions over the state’s response to the catastrophic flash floods. Kerr County remains at the center of the disaster after the Guadalupe River burst its banks on Friday.
Four days have passed since anyone was found alive in the aftermath of the floods in Kerr County, Texas, officials said Tuesday.
Nearly a week after deadly floods struck Central Texas, search and rescue teams are continuing to probe debris for those still missing.
The claim spread widely on social media after the floods that devastated the Lone Star State in early July 2025.
