The Boston Celtics officially broke up their championship core from the 2024 season after they traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trailblazers, and Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks. However, the Hawks will now soon need to decide if Porzingis will be a long-term option.

Kristaps Porzingis' exit from the Boston Celtics was made official on Monday, July 7. The veteran big man was sent to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team trade that also included the Brooklyn Nets. Atlanta announced the deal via a press release, confirming the talented big man will now team up with Trae Young on Quin Snyder's roster.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Brad Stevens didn't mince words over why the Celtics had to trade Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday.
