Angel Martínez had three hits, José Ramírez homered and the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 Tuesday night for their fourth win in five games since the All-Star break. Kyle Manzardo and Bryan Rocchio each drove in a pair of runs as the Guardians have won 10 of 12 after a 10-game losing streak to get back to .500 at 50-50.
CLEVELAND — The Guardians face the Baltimore Orioles as Cleveland, for really the first time this season, looks to continue the recent offensive surge. The Guardians are coming off of a 10-5 win on July 21, and they've averaged more than six runs over their last 11 games.
The Guardians took the second of the four-game series with the Orioles, 6-3, a day after winning the opener, 10-5. Cleveland is on a three-game winning streak, 4-1 in the past five and 8-2 over the last 10, so the Guardians are getting hot, while the O’s are 1-6 in the last seven.
The Guardians used a left-handed starter and stacked nine lefties and/or switch-hitters in their lineup to beat the Orioles on Tuesday.
Baltimore has a 44-55 record overall and a 22-30 record in road games. The Orioles have a 26-45 record in games when they have allowed a home run. Tuesday’s game is the fifth meeting between these teams this season. The season series is tied 2-2.
