The Wisconsin Supreme Court overturned the state legislature’s ability to suspend administrative rules, ending a decades-old practice of lawmakers being empowered to temporarily block agency regulations.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court cleared the way Tuesday for the state to institute a ban on conversion therapy in a ruling that gives the governor more power over how state laws are enacted.

A decision sides with Gov. Tony Evers in dispute over conversion therapy ban, and significantly scales back the power of the Legislature to block administrative rules from state agencies.
